Is There an RV Tire Pressure Monitor System that Uses Internal Sensors

Updated 01/14/2026 | Published 01/12/2026

Question:

Is there a TPMS kit for a 27’TT that uses automotive style sensors inside the tire?

Hey Rick, we have the TST TPMS system part # TST34FR which uses internal pressure sensors like you are looking for. This is a 4 sensor setup for a tandem axle trailer. Are you wanting to also monitor your vehicle tire pressure or does your vehicle have that displayed on the dash already?

I just need the trailer tires monitored. I saw these but this style is not an automotive style that is connected to the valve stems. Thanks

@RickI We have the part # 335TPMS4WIVS which replaces the valve stems with ones that have the sensors built in. Is that closer to what you are thinking?

Total garbage. 1 out of four sensors failed, 2 more of 4 came loose and floated around the tire. Would NOT recommend TST internal sensors.

@E Oh man that sucks! I'm sorry to hear about that. Were you able to try and warranty any of it?

I personally would never buy them again. YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE REMOVE THE TIRE AND PUT IT BACK ON. tHEY DIDNT READ PROPERLY, AND SOMETIMES SOME WHEELS WOULD NOT EVEN SHOW UP. BOUGHT THE ONES THAT SCREW ON TO THE VALVE STEM, WITH AN EXTENDER, AND THEY WORK GREAT AND ARE MUCH CHEAPER

WE have used the inside the tire sensors for a couple years now. (similar to what you have in vehicle tires). Not on the stems... I would say it's a mixed bag. We get notices when the spare is low (we have in ALL tires) Once in a while we get a notice that is not accurate - like pressure has dropped, but we will pull over and double check. But the one time that it told use there was a problem, hubby ignored it. Thank god we were close to home.... Saw the tire & wheel rolling down the road - the bearing got hot. Caused lots of damage. If we would have been able to pull over and look, we probably would not have had all the damage that we did receive. If you get the ones that attach to the stem from outside, make sure you have metal valve stems or you will have issues of a bigger sort.

@GrandD Wow! That's a wild story! Do you remember what the error code was? Probably heat I would assume. My brother once had a wheel fly off his car while on the highway and we still tease him about it 20 years later haha.
