Can PullRite Super 5th Wheel ISR # PUL57MR Tow Trailer that Weighs 13,500 lb

Published 01/07/2026

Question:

Hello I have a 5th wheel that weighs 7500 lbs and add about 2500 lbs of gear and pull a boat behind that that weighs about 3500 lbs. is the pullrite 2700 16K hitch ok for this application? Thanks Rick

Hey Rick, so the total weight of your trailers would be 13,500 lbs which the Pullrite Super 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Custom Mounting Kit # PUL57MR would easily have the needed capacity for as it can tow up to 16,000 lbs. You are totally safe up to the max capacity of the hitch so being 2,500 lb under the capacity for the hitch would be totally fine! What 5th wheel do you have?

I have a Keystone Cougar 23MLE and appreciate your answer as I was unsure if I did approach 14,000 lbs and all the jarring takes place on these fine roads we have (lol) if it would be enough hitch. Thanks Rick

@RickE it's a valid question! But thankfully the manufacturers took that type of thing into consideration so as long as the bumps on the road are normal sized and nothing crazy you're totally fine.
