Will Pop & Lock Power Locking Handle PAL9555 Work On Century Ultra Canopy With Two T-Handles?

Updated 01/20/2026 | Published 12/19/2025

Question:

I have a Century Ultra canopy with two T-handles to open the rear lift-gate one on each side. Is the PAL9555 the correct option for keyless entry conversion and does one kit contain everything needed to convert a two T-handle setup or are two kits needed? I will also be installing a Pop and Lock kit to convert the truck tailgate to keyless entry as well, and was curious if the two kits can be combined to reduce wiring going up to the drivers kick panel.

Hey Justin, thanks for reaching out. For a Century Ultra canopy with two rear T-handles, the Pop & Lock # PAL9555 is the correct keyless entry conversion kit. One # PAL9555 kit is designed to operate both T-handles, so you do not need two kits. The system uses a single actuator that ties both latch rods together so the rear glass or lift gate unlocks simultaneously from one signal. Just make sure your topper has a frameless bonded glass door and a 1-1/8" center latch hole.

If you also plan to install a Pop & Lock kit for the truck’s tailgate, the two systems can share some wiring, but they cannot fully combine into a single harness. Each kit still requires its own actuator and control wiring, but you can typically tie both into the same lock/unlock trigger wires at the driver’s kick panel or BCM. That means you won’t need to run separate trigger wires for each kit, which helps keep the install cleaner, but you will still need to power and ground each module individually.

Hey Justin, how did the wiring go when you tied the canopy and tailgate Pop & Lock kits into the same trigger wires? Your results could really help others looking to clean up their keyless entry setup.

@JesseM My rear glass is not frameless and doesn't use latch rods, so it seems the P&L kit won't work for me there. I've only installed the tailgate actuator thus far, but I am planning to make my own actuated latches for the rear glass using universal automotive actuators which I will tie into the signal wires for the tailgate. Once I've got that working, I'll update this thread again.

@Justin Thanks for the update Justin, that makes sense. Good call recognizing the limitation with the rear glass not using latch rods, that’s definitely a key detail for others to be aware of with the Pop & Lock kits. Tying in universal actuators for the rear glass and running them off the same signal as the tailgate sounds like a solid plan. I’d be interested to hear how that works out once you’ve got it dialed in, appreciate you offering to update the thread when you do.
