Recommended Roof Rack for a 2015 Subaru XV w/out Roof Rails

Updated 12/31/2025 | Published 11/28/2025

Question:

Hi there, I recently acquired a 2015 Subaru XV gen1 and have been looking to making more use of it by adding a trailer and roof racks. However, it appears to have only four fixed points on the roof each having two threaded holes, probably to mount the OEM cross bars. The OEM longitudinal bars used to carry most commercial cross bars use three mounting points, so thats hardly an option. Do you know what reliable and relatively quiet systems Thule, Yakima, Rhino would fit these mounting points? Thank you in advance, Best

Hey Keven, thanks for the picture. I checked with our vendors and the only roof rack we have for your 2015 Subaru XV is from Yakima and it does not attach to those four points you have. This roof rack uses custom fit clips that install inside your door trim. I have listed the parts you'll need below:

Yakima BaseLine FX Crossbar for Naked Roofs - 40-3/4" Long - Qty 1 item # Y43TR

Yakima BaseLine FX Crossbar for Naked Roofs - 44-3/4" Long - Qty 1 item # Y63TR

BaseClip Fit Kit for Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack Towers - Qty 2 item # Y06126 - You'll need two sets of these.

What are going to be mounting on your roof rack?

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Keven, how did the Yakima BaseLine FX roof rack work out on your Subaru XV? Your feedback could really help others trying to figure out the best setup for those fixed mounting points.

@JerredH Thanks for your initial suggestion and followup. As I mentioned, I wanted to only use the existing mounting points. As a semi-permanent solution until I figure out a better system, I went with the official cross bars designed for these mounting points. Best,
