Roof Rack/Platform Recommendation for 2019 Ford Transit Connect Long Wheelbase XLT

Updated 12/09/2025 | Published 11/17/2025

Question:

2019 Ford Transit Connect Passenger LWB XLT Im looking for a heavy duty roof rack system. At a minimum, something with crossbars, but Id be interested in any platform options too. Im a contractor and would like to be able to haul lumber as well as 4x8foot sheets of plywood or drywall from time to time. The van has the factory flush rails. Ive had the cargo version of the van in the past and am familiar with the naked roof options. Ive considered removing the flush rails but the few tutorials Ive found online make it sound really tedious/difficult. On your site, it looks to me like my two heavier duty options would be: Yakima SightLine Roof Rack for Flush Rails - HD Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - Qty 2 Yakima SightLine Roof Rack for Flush Rails - CoreBar Crossbars - Steel - Black - Qty 2 A few questions: 1. Are these my best options? 2. Do the HD crossbars connect to the flush rails? They dont show connector pieces. 3. If the HD crossbars have a 500 lb capacity but my van manual says it has a max roof rack load weight of 165 lb, would the HD give me a higher capacity? Thank you very much in advance. Im struggling to find good info online. Can you confirm

Hey Brad, for your 2019 Ford Transit Connect Long Wheelbase XLT we only have a larger platform rack option available with the Frontline Runner Slimline II part # FR53FV. This would work really great to carry all the things you mentioned and basically provides full coverage of the roof so you'd be prepared for just about anything you'd need to carry up there!

Hey Brad, how did the Front Runner Slimline II platform work out on your Transit Connect? It sounds like it could handle your lumber and sheet goods well. Your feedback could really help others looking for a heavy-duty setup like yours.

@JamesonC Hey Jameson, I think I was told by a rep that there weren't any options that worked with my trim package, which was a bummer. Ultimately, I chose to buy a different vehicle.

@Brad what vehicle did you end up going with?
