Is Dellmead Woven Fabric On Thomas Payne RV Sleeper Loveseat Harder To Clean Than Faux Leather?

Question:

Is the Dellmead fabric harder to clean than the faux-leather ones? We travel with two dogs that think they own the couch.

Haha, I hear you there, Julie!

The Thomas Payne Rest Easy Dellmead # TP49KR and TrFold Loveseat Cobblestone # LC54FC both use a woven fabric upholstery that’s soft, breathable, and great at hiding fur or everyday wear. It just doesn’t wipe down as easily as the PolyHyde faux leather used on the Driftwood # TP69KR and McCoy # TP79KR. Lippert recommends cleaning any of them with just a damp rag - no chemicals. If muddy paws are a daily thing, the PolyHyde finishes (Driftwood and McCoy) will definitely be easier to maintain long-term.

What breed are your pups? Some customers use fitted throw covers or microfiber blankets to keep claws off the stitching while still showing off the fabric color.

Thanks Andrew! We’ve got two Labradors, so sounds like Driftwood might be better. Do the faux leather ones scratch easy?

@Julie Hey, so the PolyHyde material on the Driftwood and McCoy sofas is actually a layered vinyl that’s pretty resistant to claw marks. If your dogs jump up often, keeping their nails trimmed makes a big difference, but the material itself holds up really well. I do think over time, depending on how long the nails are and how big the dog is, it could show some claw marks. I'd recommend throwing a blanket or protector over it when dogs are going to be on it. Some like the woven fabric better since it hides claw marks better, but can sometimes get torn open easier so there are definitely trade-offs! Do your labs ride along full-time or just for weekend trips?
