Dark Brown VS Lighter Beige Faux Leather Sleeper Couch For Grand Design Imagine 2970RL RV

Updated 11/12/2025 | Published 11/11/2025

Question:

We’re torn between the Driftwood and McCoy colors for our Grand Design Imagine 2970RL. Is one darker in person?

Yes, Jessica - the Thomas Payne Rest Easy McCoy # TP79KR is definitely the darker of the two, with a rich espresso-brown tone, while the Driftwood # TP69KR leans more toward a tan or sand color. Both use the same PolyHyde leather-look upholstery, so lighting inside your RV will make the biggest difference in how they appear. If your cabinetry is on the darker side, the McCoy blends in seamlessly; Driftwood tends to pop a bit more and brighten up the space.

Do you already have other Thomas Payne pieces in your setup, or are you starting fresh with the Rest Easy line?

Thanks Andrew! We went with McCoy and it matches our walnut cabinets perfectly. It does look darker inside than in the pictures online.

@Jessica Awesome, Jessica - sounds like you nailed the combo. Those McCoy tones blend beautifully with walnut or espresso woodwork. Lighting plays a big role, and in most RVs the ambient LEDs make Driftwood look brighter and McCoy richer. Did you end up replacing an old jackknife or was this your first Thomas Payne piece?
