Great question, Angela. On your 2025 Sierra 1500, the Traveler # FT48RV lets you open the topper independently - but the tonneau portion does need to be rolled up when the topper is fully extended. That’s how the frame clears and operates correctly. When the topper’s down, the tonneau rolls back out to seal the bed tight again.

Do you prefer quick access to tall cargo or a fully enclosed setup most of the time?

Got it, thanks! I mostly use it for camping - do you know if you can crack it open just partway to grab something, or is it all or nothing?

@Angela Yep, you can open it partway. The bows are tensioned but not locked until the full extension, so you can unzip and fold back just enough to grab gear or let air circulate.
