Question:
Have one of your comeup winches. Works well, four+ years. But losing its payout braking. Any repair kit for that? And what currently is your fastest winch? A comeup would be nice, but I’ll consider any vendor. Needs 90 ft cable/nylon rope and remote control. Thanks

Hey Ed, thanks for reaching out!
I spoke with my contact at ComeUp and they said your ComeUp Seal Slim Off-Road Winch # CU295051 may be out of adjustment or is grease contaminated. I've got a user's guide I'll send you in a separate email and you can look at the brake adjustment steps on page 16 of the manual (page 17 in the PDF).
ComeUp also has a YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULYbG_2WnUg) showing how to do this. The video is on a different winch, but it's the same process for your model.
For the grease, you'll just need to check it and make sure it's clean. If you have contaminated grease you'll need to clean it out and replace it, and if you have grease in the brake cavity or on the brake cone you'll need to clean that out.
When it comes to a faster winch with the same weight category I recommend the Bulldog Winch Alpha Series # BDW10009. This is rated for 8,288 lbs and has a speed of 55 feet per minute or more depending on your load capacity.
Let me know how the maintenance goes either way!

Thanks for your reply. The bulldog winch is rated at 12 FPM. 12 feet per minute?!?! That’s the slowest performance I’ve ever heard. My current comeup winch does about 3 times that, and I’m looking for a faster one. I Read the instructions for addressing the braking and you have to be an automotive engineer to figure that out. I haven’t seen the YouTube yet; maybe that’ll be helpful. Can you tell me exactly what model comeup winch I bought from you last time (like 4 years ago)? Ed Mier
