Does Go Power Pure Sine Wave Inverter 3,000 Watts Let You Combine Shore Power With Battery Assist?

Published 09/16/2025

Question:

Does the 3,000W GP85QR let you combine shore power with battery assist if you’re overloading? For example, if I’m on 30A hookup but run the microwave and A/C together?

Great question, Drew. The # GP85QR does have a built-in transfer switch and charger, but it’s not a hybrid inverter/charger that can blend shore power with battery power at the same time. What it does is automatically switch between shore (or generator) input and inverter output (run off battery bank).

So if you’re on a 30A hookup, you’re limited to what that pedestal provides - if you push past 30 amps, the campground breaker will still trip since you're on a 30A camper/RV setup. When shore power isn’t present, the inverter will step in and provide up to 3,000 watts (about 25 amps at 120V) from your battery bank. But it won’t “stack” the two sources together.

If you know you’re going to run heavier loads, you might consider load management - running the microwave separately from the A/C, for example. How often do you find yourself bumping into that 30A limit? Also, do you have solar panels already? That could help a lot.
