Are There Downsides To Using Doorless RV Furnace In 2018 Jayco Eagle?

Published 08/22/2025

Question:

We do a lot of winter camping in our 2018 Jayco Eagle. Our old Atwood furnace is shot. I’m leaning toward the DMC74MR doorless version because I don’t really need the outside access. Any downsides to going doorless?

Good thinking, Matt. The doorless Dometic RV Furnace # DMC74MR installs flush inside, so you won’t have the external door panel to maintain or seal up against weather. The only real tradeoff is convenience: you’ll have to access it from inside the RV for service, rather than popping a panel outside. Some folks prefer that since it keeps the exterior cleaner. If you’re camping in freezing temps, I’d also suggest double-checking your ducting insulation while you’ve got things apart.

If you want a door for easier service and install down the road, you can go with black door # DMC64MR or white door # DMC99MR but you'll need to cut into your RV exterior wall to upgrade to a doored setup.
