How To Wire The 3rd Brake Light In A Bestop Supertop?
Updated 08/07/2025 | Published 07/31/2025 >
Question:
Hello, I just bought a Bestop Supertop for my 2005 Chevy Colorado through your reseller called etrailer.com link below. Im at the step to install the 3rd brake light. There are 3 wires coming out of the brake light assembly and they are colored red, yellow, and gray. The instructions make NO MENTION of what the various colors are for. I have a lot of experience with electronics, wiring, etc. but before I can wire it, I will need to know what the various colors are. Thanks

That is a very good question, Mike.
I requested the wire color layout on the 3rd brake light for the Supertop # B76302 and the response that follows is what Bestop sent me:
Hello
No, it isn't included because we recommend that ithe Third Brake Light supplied with the assemby be professionally wired. Our instructions have that note as a warning on the installation cover page, and in line in the order where it says to install it.
I requested it again and have not heard back from them. Maybe you will have better luck since you actually have the part, so their phone number is 1-800-845-3567. I sincerely apologize for the delay and inconvenience this caused.
***UPDATE***
This is their most recent response to my request:
No, I can't tell you. I don't have it. The reason I don't have it is because we recommend that it be professionally installed.
