Looking For A Replacement Atwood G6A-8E Water Heater, Any Ideas?

Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/16/2025

Question:

I need to replace a G6A-8E Atwood with a 15”x18” white door in my 2012 Coachman Freelander. What is the difference between 6 gallon tank vs tankless other than the obvious? The Atwood is on a 12v 5amp fused circuit. Does tankless require 120v. Was hoping it would be a uncomplicated swap…thanks for any advice. Jim

Hey Jim,

We do not carry and exact replacement for that G6A-8E water heater. What I recommend is the Furrion Tankless Water Heater # FR68SR. The main difference between the 2 types, is a 6 gallon stores and heats a fixed amount of water, while the tankless ones heat the water as needed as it flows through the unit. The Furrion is still your 12V like your current one so no major changes are needed.

Since we do not offer an exact replacement the size may be different than yours. The access door size is larger at 18 x 18, but the cutout size should be closer to your current. Cutout size needed is a width of 12-3/4 to 12-13/16. A height of 12-5/8 to 12-3/4, and a depth of at least 23-1/2". What is your current cutout size?
