How do You Use the Manual Override on the Valterra E-Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Gray Water?
Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/25/2025 >
Question:
How is this valve manually actuated. Where it will be installed on mine it will be sealed above the belly pan. I will not be able to access it without removing the belly pan. Is it is the manual portion cable actuated?

Hello Danny,
The Valterra E-Valve Electric Waste Valve for RV Gray Water Tank - 1-1/2" Hubs # VAL23MB is controlled by a rocker switch, which makes operating your RV’s waste system super convenient. You can mount the switch somewhere easy to reach inside your rig, and with just a flip, the valve opens or closes electrically. It's a really clean and user-friendly setup compared to traditional manual valves.
That said, it does have a manual override built into the motor assembly, just in case the power fails or something goes wrong electrically. However, the manual function is not cable-operated, you have to physically access the valve itself to use it. So, if you’re installing this valve above a sealed belly pan and don’t have a way to reach it without taking the pan down, you wouldn’t be able to manually operate it in an emergency.
If you decide to go with this valve in order to get around removing the belly pan, you might consider adding an access hatch near the valve so you can get to it if needed.
What kind of camper are thinking about installing this in?

Hey Danny, Did you decide to add an access hatch for the valve installation, or are you considering a different approach? I'm asking because your experience could really help others in a similar situation.
