Why Won't My Hopkins Wireless Taillights Work When Plugged into My 2025 Lincoln Nautilus?

Updated 05/19/2025 | Published 05/04/2025

Question:

I cannot get my Hopskins wireless taillights to work when plugged directly into my Lincoln Natilus trailer connector. The bulbs flash intermittently or don’t work at all. If I plug the transmitter into our motorhome when we are towing our car they work correctly. We use these because our e-bikes block the vehicle taillights when they are on the bike rack and we need the extra remote lights either towing or just driving the car with the bikes on the car.

Hello Bob,

Since you've confirmed that the Universal Magnetic Tow Lights with Wireless Transmitter and 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector - Red LEDs # C6304 work fine with another vehicle, the issue is most likely with the trailer wiring on your Lincoln Nautilus.

Did your Nautilus come with the factory tow package? If so, I recommend checking the vehicle’s fuse panel to see if a trailer lighting fuse is missing or blown. Some vehicles require the fuse to be added manually, even if the tow package wiring is present.

The # C6304 system requires a full 12 volts to operate correctly. I suggest using a LCD Digital Circuit Tester # PTW2992 to test your 4-way flat connector. Be sure to test each pin while the corresponding function is active: turn on your parking lights, use the turn signals, and press the brake pedal during testing.

Once you've had a chance to check the voltage and fuses, let me know what you find. I'm happy to help further based on your results.

I tested the car light plug on my utility trailer with LED lights and they work properly with the car. I have the same issue with my wireless lights with the transmitter plugged into the car.

@Bob Do you have a 7 way on the back of the Lincoln Natilus? The LED's do not draw enough power at times where if won't even register that there is something plugged in. If you have a 7 way back there and use the 7-Way to 4-Way/5-Way Trailer Adapter for Vehicles with Lamp-Out Sensors Towing Trailers with LEDs # C35FR it should correct the issue. I attached a video that my buddy Brad put together, he does a great job explaining how it works.
