Will this fit a 2016 jCW Mini? It looks like one of the reviewers said it did with minor trimming. Any info regarding this?

Hi Jay!
Roadmaster officially lists the Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521882-5 kit as fitting 2014–2019 Mini Cooper S (with or without the S turbo), but they do not officially list it for the JCW model. This is due to the JCW models having different front fascias (bumpers), more aggressive lower valances, and a slightly different crash structure compared to the Cooper S. This is predominantly why Roadmaster doesn't officially list it for JCW trims. At least from what I could find.
You are correct in that some owners have successfully installed this base plate kit on a 2016 JCW with minor trimming. Usually, the "trimming" refers to the typical cutting of small sections of the lower grill mesh or adjusting inside the fascia to allow the mounting arms to pass through cleanly. No major structural cutting is needed, so it’s typically cosmetic or plastic trimming only.
However, I am seeing a lot of Mini forums and bulletins saying automatic transmissions cannot be flat towed as it will damage them. If yours has the manual, it should be good to go. If it were me though, I would contact a Mini dealership just to double check.
With all that said, as long as you have the manual transmission and you are setting it up properly (tow bar, brake system, wiring, etc.), many people have successfully flat-towed JCWs using this baseplate with no major complaints.
