Question:
Hi, I am looking at the Demco DM9518079 to flat tow my 2003 Suzuki Vitara. I already own Falcon 5250 and Sterling All Terrain towbars. I have the RM035, and RM035-2 adapters for my jeep. I am setup for flat towing my Honda CR-V with the 1555-3 Kit, which uses the C001083/04 side arms. Will any of those adapters work directly with the Demco kit? It looks like the Demco baseplate uses a bayonet type connection. You state on your website: Compatible with Multiple Tow Bars: Works seamlessly with Demco tow bars and can be adapted for other brands using specific adapters. If not, is there a Roadmaster adapter available? What is the spacing and hole size of the tow connection on the Demco DM9518079? I also looked at the Roadmaster 1012-1 for the Suzuki, but it starts at $50 more than Demco, and in addition, it appears, I would have to purchase a separate crossbar? One last question: Can either of these kits be used with a brush bar on the Suzuki? Maybe with longer mounting bolts? Thanks, Mark

Hi Mark; none of your existing adapters will allow you to use the tow bars with the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518079. If you want to use the Falcon 5250 you need the # DM9523023 and for the Sterling All-Terrain the # DM9523062. The Demco Classic tabs have a 3/4" gap with a 1/2" hole.
The Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1012-1 will require the Replacement Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly for Roadmaster Tow Bars # 910021-00 to work with your existing tow bars so it will cost more overall. You would also need # C58390 for installation and potentially # RM-910653 (if you used the Sterling All-Terrain) for this setup. I would expect to have to remove the brush guard to install either of the base plate kits.

Hey Mark, how did things go with the Demco Classic base plate on your Suzuki Vitara? Were the adapter brackets you chose a good match for your Falcon or Sterling tow bars? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar flat tow setup.
