Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster EZ Hook safety cable anchors. The anchors are going to attach to your Roadmaster mounting brackets with quick disconnects. It's going to come with 2 anchors and the necessary mounting hardware to get it attached to your Roadmaster mounting brackets. These are going to be made right here, in the USA. They're going to be constructed from a steel construction, featuring a black, powder coat finish, which is going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. I do want to point out that on the anchor, you're going to notice a smaller hole in the bottom corner of the anchor plate.
This is designed as an attachment point for setups that have a short cable connecting the base plate to the vehicle. You can connect it to this hole using a quick connect. Your quick connects are going to be sold separately, but we do offer them here at etrailer if you need some. The EZ Hook design is going to refer to the unique attachment system, located on the cable. I do have a cable here today for demonstration purposes. On 1 end of the cable, you're going to notice that it's going to have a stainless steel ball.
This is going to latch into the slotted anchor plate. You place it in, simply rotate it down into the side, until it gets all the way down there and it's held in place. Really nice design, again it's got the EZ Hook design, the EZ Hook name, so it's going to allow for a quick and simple connecting and disconnecting. Now, your safety cables are sold separately. These attachments allow use of the Roadmaster quick-attach safety cables, which allow very easy and quick attachment and detachment of the safety cables. No more messing with dirty and balky links to attach the cables.
I have used e-trailer for years with excellent results. They are willing to go the extra mile for their customers, and are always price competitive. I recommend Roadmaster and e-trailer.
Just what we needed
I already had the Roadmaster tow bar setup installed one my Jeep Grand Cherokee but wanted to also use it on my Jeep Wrangler TJ with an off-road bumper, so I ordered these and mounted them on my off-road bumper so I could use the safety cables attached to the tow bar. They have worked out great.
Nice, but the supplied nuts work loose before long. I had them plenty tight, but they came loose on the road. I'm sure I would have noticed if they were loose when I hooked up.
On the road, the lower half of the anchor came off on one side. The crossbar dropped on that side, bent, and got pulled under the tow vehicle. The bottom of the anchor wore away on the road, so I needed to buy new anchors and a new crossbar.
The instructions said nothing about this possibility, and should have suggested red Loctite on the connections. And the bolts should have a cotter pin in them.
Otherwise, these work well.
The Sterling Tow Bar along with the baseplate an required equipment made towing our Honda CR-V a breeze!
These brackets are great. They were easy to install, directions excellent and made hitching and unhitchiing much faster. Etralier was very efficient and the brackets arrived within 5 working days even with economy shipping. I will continue to use Etralier because they are fast and competitive.
