Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/17/2025

Question:

I have a 2021 ram 2500 bighorn 4x4 diesel with a 6.5 bed automatic transmission. Im trying to find out if I can safely tow a 5th wheel camper with a pin weight of 2750 lbs. And if I can what type of a hitch you recommend

Hey Jim, thanks for reaching out!

From what I'm seeing, your 2021 Ram 2500 BigHorn should be able to tow up to a 17,730 lb 5th wheel trailer with a pin weight of up to 3,546 lbs, but I do recommend double checking that number in your copy of your owner's manual. Your truck has a higher pin weight rating than payload rating because the pin weight has to do with a hitch that secures directly to your truck frame, while the payload is how much the truck bed can safely carry.

With that being said, I recommend picking up the PullRite SuperGlide since it's an auto-sliding hitch and makes taking tight turns really easy as you won't have to get in and out of the truck to activate the sliding feature. The correct SuperGlide depends on if you have the OEM pucks in your truck bed or not:

- Kit # PUL85RR if you don't have the OEM pucks (this includes the industry-standard base rails)
- Kit # PUL28RR if you DO have the OEM pucks (this includes adapters for the pucks)

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hey Jim, how did things go with towing your 5th wheel using the PullRite SuperGlide hitch? Your experience could help others trying to match their Ram 2500 setup with a similar camper.
