Will 2014 Heartland Bighorn 3160 Elite Power Center Be Lithium Compatible
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/08/2025 >
Question:
I want to swap out my two lead acid batteries for two 100 Ah LiFePo4 batteries in my 2014 Heartland Bighorn 3160 Elite 5th wheel. Will I need to swap out my current battery charger for one compatible with LiFePo4 batteries? Where is my charger located in my 5th wheel? Is it part of converter or stand alone charger? Thanks

Hey Jim! I'm sure you have an all in one AC/DC distribution panel/converter charger like the # PD4560K18LS8 in your 2014 Heartland Bighorn 3160 Elite. The power center has all of your breakers and fuses and will look similar to the picture below. I don't know the exact location in your trailer but it shouldn't be too hard to find. If you open it up there will be a manufacturer and model number printed on the door or inside the unit itself you can use to identify it.
Since this was made in 2014 I highly doubt it has lithium compatibility. If you can add the information from your current power center to the comments below I can double check and offer a suitable replacement to work with your lithium batteries.

Hey Jim, were you able to find the model number on your power center in the Bighorn? Once you have that info, I can help confirm if it’s lithium compatible or point you to the right replacement. Let me know what you find so we can get your setup ready for those LiFePo4 batteries.
