Can My Solera 2000 Arms Handle a 13 Foot Awning, or Do I Need to Buy a Whole Kit?

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/09/2025

Question:

Can I upgrade my 8ft awning to the 13ft with just the tube and fabric kit and use my existing arms? It looks like all the arm kits are the same. It would be nice just to spend half the cost of a complete kit.

Hello Richard,

Thank you for the pictures, they are always most helpful! I really hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it won't work. The Solera 2000 arms cannot handle the extra weight as they are only good for 8 foot awnings, 10 feet at the absolute most. If you want a 13 foot awning you would need the entire Solera XL 12V Power RV Awning - 13' Wide - 9'8" Projection - Black Fade # LCV000334926-362243, which come with the Solera XL arms so it can handle the weight. I really wish I was able to give you the answer you were hoping for.

Do you have any big trips planned for the year? What has been your favorite trip so far?

Hey Richard, did you end up going with the full Solera XL awning setup for your upgrade? Knowing how it worked out could really help others thinking about moving from an 8‑foot to a 13‑foot awning. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same question.
