Compressed Length of 30 ft-lbs Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut

Question:
I assume the length is measured center of eye to center of eye. It would also be nice to know the compressed length of the strut. Impossible to design an install without both measurements! What is the compressed length?

Yes, the 28" length is from center to center of the end sockets on the Taylor Made Marine Gas Strut for Boat Hatches # 3691869-30.
I reached out to my contact at Taylor Made and they said the compressed length is 16-1/2" socket to socket.
