Can Slide Topper be Installed on Slide Out with Awning

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 01/09/2025

Question:

I want to find out if I can put a slide topper on a push out that already has an awning on it. I have 2 inches of clearance to the top edge of the arm from the rail and I have 4 1/2 inches on the rail so the total height would be 6 1/2 inches is that doable? Question two what awning for 157 inches would you recommend in black and white? Would you recommend one colour over the other for Florida heat?

Hey Ron,

For your 157" wide slide out I recommend the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000163300 in white because white does a better job at keeping away heat.

It's a little difficult for me to visualize what you're describing so in order to determine if this will fit your scenario, the awning rail will need to be install at or up to 3" above the line where the slide and your wall meet. If your other awning will be in the way of this or the mounting hardware is in the corners of the slide-out where the arms of the slide topper awning are supposed to install then that would cause interference.

I'm attaching a photo showing how to make sure your slide out width measurements match what we consider the width, as well as a review and installation video of a slide topper so you can get an idea of what all takes place and where things will install.

Hey Ron, how did things go with the Solera slide-out awning for your 157-inch setup? Did the clearance around your existing awning end up working out? Your update could make it easier for others working with tight spacing like that.
