How Can I Tell if My 2005 Volkeswagon Passat Stationwagon is 4Motion or Not?

Question:
I have 2005 Volkeswagon Passat Stationwagon. How can I be sure it is not a Motion stationwagon. It has no markings. Thank you.

Hello Diana,
There are a couple of different ways you can check to see if your 2005 VW Passat is 4Motion or not.
The first would be to check the VIN number, there are many free VIN look-ups if you do a Google Search, or you can send me the VIN and I would be happy to check it for you. You can find the VIN in the windshield on the driver side bottom, or there is a sticker on your driver door.
You could also check the drive shaft under the car, a 4Motion model will have a rear differential and driveshaft running to the back wheels; a front-wheel-drive model (non-4Motion) will not have these components—only the front wheels are powered.
