Question:

Any suggestions for a weatherproof cover over this E-Spec Swagman bike rack with 2 fairly small e-bikes? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Jerry,

We only carry one bike rack cover, the Swagman Bike Cover for RVs - Large - 2 Bikes # S24FR. You might be thinking, "Why do you have so many bike racks on your site, but only one cover?" There is a good reason for this, the # S24FR is only good on the back of an RV or camper due to its reduced wind velocity. If you plan on using this cover on the back of an RV, then you are safe. I know that there are bike covers out there, we do not recommend them for passenger vehicles. If you think about it, its like putting on a flying squirrel suit. The air cannot get through, causing so much restriction which can be very damaging to your bike rack or even your bikes.

Hey Jerry, did you end up trying the Swagman bike cover on your rack with the two e-bikes? It’d be great to hear how it held up in wet weather. Your feedback could help others looking for a similar setup.

@KateF Yes, unfortunately it leaks at the zipper and also there are small hole that have developed in it. After a hard rain and after having used it several times, it leaks a lot. The sealing material seems to sort of flake off.

@JerryG I am very sorry to hear that Jerry. A lot of the other brands do not even make the covers. Are you using it while driving? I wonder if the air restriction is what is causing it to fail.
