Yakima Rack And Roll Trailer - Turn Signals Brighten But Do Not Flash
Updated 11/17/2025 | Published 12/10/2024 >
Question:
I have a lightly used 2021 Rack n Roll and turn signals are inop. Tow vehicle is all LED with a LED specific flasher CF13GL-02 from SuperBrightLEDs. Trailer Harness interface is a Hopkins Electronic 46255 from NAPA Auto. All lights on tow vehicle are normal. On trailer, Voltages measure 13 V all around. Running lights all OK Emergency flasher lights OK Brake lights OK Problem: Turn indicators brighten but do not flash. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Pat

Hey Patrick, thanks for reaching out. This is an odd issue you are describing, and definitely not something we hear of often. The first thing to do here will be to double check the ground on the trailer. This is by far the most common cause of trailer lighting issues. Check your ground wire and make sure you are grounded to good clean metal free of any rust or corrosion.
If this does not fix the issue, the next thing to do will be to take a wire probe and start checking the turn signal wires. Makes sure there are no damaged wires that could be causing a short. Check the converter module input and make sure the input is showing a pulsing signal when the turn signal is activated. If the input to the converter is normal, the output is not this means your converter is bad and needs to be replaced. The Hopkins converters are not known for being super durable so it is definitely worth checking. If the input signal is not normal, then we have a wiring issue on the truck side.
Check all this and let me know how it goes. I can help you troubleshoot further if needed.

Hey Pat, what ended up happening with the turn signal issue on your Rack and Roll trailer? Did checking the ground or testing the converter fix the problem? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with similar trailer light issues.
