Do you know if this cross bar will work with an old old Th500 xporter rack upright saddles, and if not is it returnable?

Hello Rolf, thanks for reaching out. I do have a solution for you, but the Replacement Crossbar for TracRac Ladder Racks # TAFX-30007-02 will not work with the old Xsporter rack. This will only work with the TracRac TracOne and T-Rac ladder racks.
For your old TH500 Xsporter, the correct crossbar is part # TH7521364001. This will work with the newer # TH500XT and the old TH500 models. We do accept returns, but the # TH7521364001 is definitely what I recommend going with so you don't have to worry about returning anything.
