Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/11/2024

Question:

I am buying this base plate 1523-2 plus the cross member quick connect plates now this is for a Honda accord 4dr 4 cyl I’m pretty sure I got the right ones that go with my car it’s all roadmaster there was a couple for less money for a cross bar I wasn’t sure if there was a difference in the length between the bracket for a Honda to a full size truck if I’m wrong could that be corrected before my shipment ? I sure do appreciate any help that would be great. I’m purchasing It and having it sent to my girlfriends house since I have been traveling I guess that may have to do I. My purchase. Thank you Very much and have a great day

Hey Bob.

The Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1523-2 is the correct fit for your 1997 Honda Accord and connects to a tow bar via the Quick Disconnect Crossbar Assembly # 910021-00 like you mentioned.

For a tow bar, I recommend the etrailer SD # e74ZR because it's more cost-effective than a lot of other brands but you won't be sacrificing quality either.

To wrap up your flat towing setup you also need lighting and a brake kit. The Optronics Magnetic Light Kit # TL21RK is a great option that doesn't require permanent installation, and then the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR offers the same style of installation where you remove it when you aren't using it.

You'll want to check your owner's manual for any specifics when it comes to flat towing your Accord.

Hey Bob, how did everything go with the Roadmaster base plate and quick disconnect setup for your Accord? Did the parts line up the way you expected? Your update could make it easier for the next person working on a similar flat tow setup.
