Troubleshooting The Installation Of The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12097 On A 2013 VW Tiguan

Question:
Hi there, I had watched a few of your Youtube videos to install a hitch mount on my 2013 VW Tiguan. Bought the CURT hitch mount and went to cut that rectangle off and my vehicle doesnt have the factory hardward inside with the 4 holes. Just wondering if you know how easy it would be to get something installed?

Hi Anna,
The hardware should've came with the Curt # C12097 Trailer Hitch. Are you not finding factory weldnuts in the frame for the bolts to thread into? Is your Tiguan from the US market or from a foreign market? If you don't have weldnuts to thread into then you'll need to have a qualified welder weld the hitch to the frame, which wouldn't really be a huge deal but would obviously cost you a bit more to get installed properly.

Hey Anna, how did things go with the Curt hitch on your Tiguan after checking for those weldnuts? It’d be great to hear if you ended up having it welded or found another way to get it mounted. Your update could make it easier for others running into the same issue.
