Why will this not work on a in liner but the tailgate rug will?

I spoke to my contact at BedRug about the fit of their Custom Truck Bed Mat # BMY05DCS and Tailgate Mat # BMY05TG in your 2010 Toyota Tacoma.
If your truck has a factory-installed composite liner, rather than a hard plastic type drop-in liner, then you can use their Truck Bed Mat # BMY05DCS. The reason it cannot be used with hard plastic liners is that the mat has on its underside projections that match up with the recesses that are built into the stock bed. A hard plastic liner would cover these up, unlike a spray-on liner which would still allow these mating surfaces to connect properly.
