What J-Style Kayak Carrier Will Work With Square Crossbars On A Malone Trailer?

Question:
I was looking at the J Style kayak racks. However, it seems as though they will not work on a square bar. Do you have any J style kayak racks for a square bar? I am trying to put two sets on a Malone Trailer. Thanks. Mary

Hello Mary, thanks for reaching out. We do offer a J-style kayak carrier that will work with square crossbars. I recommend the etrailer Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # e98878. This will work with virtually any crossbar shape up to 3-1/8" wide and 1-1/2" tall. I have personally used the carrier on square crossbars on the Malone trailer we have here at our shop and I can confirm that it will fit great. Square bars are ideal for this because the flat top gives the carrier a nice solid surface to sit on. With some round bars or aero bars, the curved surface can cause the carrier to rotate slightly, but you will not have this problem with square bars.
