Will Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning RR33200 Long Enough to Cover Sliding Door & More on Ford Transit

Updated 01/05/2026 | Published 09/24/2024

Question:

I have a Ford Transit High Roof extended and am looking to get a Batwing awning for it. I noticed the ford Transit in the video is only a 130 wheel base. Is there a Batwing long enough to go all the way covering the sliding door for the extended Ford Transit van? Thanks, Jay

Hi Jay,

While I can't answer that directly because I don't have the exact dimensions of where the crossbars are located on your Ford Transit, and it can vary based on where you place the mounting brackets, I can tell you the Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning - Roof Rack Mount # RR33200 has 98 inch long sections.

That's a good chunk of space, but it likely won't fully clear your van, though the # RR33200 is up on top of the crossbars so it'll still work and give you a lot shade. You can also expand the coverage you get with an extension, the 6' long Extension Piece for Rhino-Rack Sunseeker, Batwing, and Foxwing Awnings # RR31101.

Hey Jay, how did the Batwing awning work out on your extended Ford Transit? Did the extension piece give you the extra coverage you were hoping for over the sliding door? Your update could make it easier for others setting up the same van.
