4-Way and 5-Way Adapter Recommendation for a 2005 Chevy Equinox
Published 05/21/2014 >
Question:
I have a 2005 Chev Equinox. I want to connect the trailer wiring harnessT-1 harness that has 6 wires to my existing trailer harness that has only 5 wires. One White wire is the ground, the other four wires are coupled into two, one is positive and the other negative I believe and each couple goes to either of the two rear lights of the trailer. My problem is how to connect the two different harnesses. I already have the wiring in my trailer 5 wires as I have explained above, the plan is to just cut out and discard the T-1 harness6 wires that is provided by the Equinox and just connect the 5 wires from the trailer to the 6 wire harness from the Equinox harness. The question is , how do I make the connection???. Any input/suggestion from you would be most appreciated. Thank you.

It sounds like you have a trailer that has a 5-way trailer connector on it with surge brakes and you are looking for a way to wire up your 2005 Chevy Equinox so that it will have a trailer wiring connector compatible with your trailer.
What you are going to need to do first is install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118391 in your vehicle. Next you will need to use an Adapter 4-way to 5-way part # 20036. This will plug into the 4-way of your vehicle and then the blue wire will tap into the reverse light circuit of your vehicle to activate the reverse lockout on your actuator. I attached an install video for this product for you to check out.
