Trailer Tire Wearing Oddly in Middle on E-Pro 19FSB
Updated 08/05/2024 | Published 07/31/2024 >
Question:
I appreciate your considering my question. It is a trailer question. My E-Pro 19fsb single axle has an of wear on the tires. They have maybe 5000 miles usage. They are rated for 50 air, I am running 45. They both do it. It appears as if one row of tread, neither outside nor inside, sort of in the center, every other tread is shorter thus causing a reticulated pattern. I dont know if they are made with some treads longer or shorter but I doubt it. Maybe too much air, maybe not enough. I could attach a picture if allowed.

Hi Allen,
Generally when a trailer tire is wearing oddly in the middle it is due to the trailer being overloaded or the tires not being fully inflated to handle the weight being put on them. So what I would do is go ahead and fully inflate your tires to the max 50 psi so they have the full capacity they are rated for, and see if that remedies the issue. You're right that the tires wouldn't be made with longer or shorter tread, which is why I think it's likely the fact they aren't being fully inflated.
If you're at the point where you do need new tires I have added a link below to our selection of trailer tires for you which you can filter through by size.

Thank you so much Kyle. I have added the 5 pounds more to bring the tires to 50#. They are not very old (2021 E-Pro with less than 6,000 miles), so I am hoping they will work out some of the uneven-ness. I will keep the link to the suggested tires. But why would I want to buy new wheels? Is this something about travel trailers I am not aware of? Thanks again. Allen Pierce
