Roof Rack For Carrying a Kayak on a 2021 Toyota Venza XLE With Roof Side Rails

Updated 07/12/2024 | Published 07/11/2024

Question:

I have a 2021 Venza XLE with low side rails with pop outs to attach crossbars. I want to haul a lightweight kayak. What would be my best option?

While I cannot find anyone who makes a roof rack specific to your 2021 Toyota Venza XLE having the side rails we do have the SeaSucker Ridge Ready Monkey Bars Roof Rack # SEA66VR. This universal rack uses vacuum cups to attach to the roof. For a rack to secure your kayak there are several options. Personally I prefer the Thule Hullavator # TH898 as it allows you to load the kayak onto the rack and then raise onto the roof. If you have no problem lifting the Kayak then you could look at a more conservative rack our etrailer # e98878.

I first need to get crossbars I believe? There are pop out spots on the side rails that I believe the crossbars will attach to. I see crossbars out there but I am unsure as to what weight capacity and other details I need to to be looking for. I will probably never haul anything very heavy, I am 66 and able to lift stuff up I will definitely look into lift assist!

@Ann I could not find any aftermarket crossbars to fit the pop outs on your side rails. It appears only Toyota will have rails for this but they will not hang past the feet like the Hullavator requires. So you would have to use the SeaSucker system above to use the Hullavator.
