Question:
I have a Aventon 500 step through e-bike that I need to transport on occasion on my 2017 Mercedes E300. I would prefer a bake rack that does not need a hitch. The bike weighs 50 lbs all in but about 35 with its battery and front wheel removed. Can I transport it without the battery and front wheel? Thanks so much

Hello Robert,
I am not aware of a way to carry your Aventon 500 step-thru ebike with its front wheel removed and on a bike rack. You can remove the battery and get it to 35 lbs and put it on a rack though. That's the best option, and the first thing you'll need (if you don't have one) is a hitch for your 2017 Mercedes-Benz E300, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11454.
This is a Class I, 1-1/4" hitch so you'll need a bike rack that is compatible, and for that use the Saris Freedom Bike Rack # SA4412B.
This is compatible with Class I hitches, weighs just 22-1/2 lbs so it's easy to handle, and uses clamps to grasp the bike by its frame so it'll work even with a step-through bike like your Aventon.
