What orientation do you install the mirror? i.e.thicker profile side closest to the car?

That's entirely up to you. Before you peal off the adhesive backing of the Hot Spot Mirror part # 49404 I would recommend you set it on your mirror in the orientation that works best for your visibility and then peal back the backing of the adhesive and apply it to your mirror.
