Troubleshooting Dexter Actuator that Reacts Slow And Spongy After Replaced Brake Line

Question:

I recently converted over to an EoH brake system, new disc brakes, new Dexter 1600PSI controller. I recently had a brake line burst, so I replaced it, bled all 4 brakes and thought problem solved. I am noticing now, the actuator seems to be considerably slower in stopping power, almost as if the actuator itself is not reacting as fast to apply full pressure? Aside from the new brake line, I had to use DOT 3 and 4 synthetic fluid, vs solely DOT 3. Is it possible the combination of DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids would cause a spongy or slower brake response?

DOT3 and DOT 4 fluid are compatible with each other, that is not the problem you are experiencing. Most likely you need to bleed your brakes again. It sounds like you didn't quite get all of the air out of the lines and that is why they feel soft or spongy.

Try bleeding your brakes again and see if that helps, email me back if the problem persists.
