Question:
I want to wire a 2010 Highlander for a 7 pin trailer wiring with brake controller. What do you recommend?

Expert Reply:
To add a brake controller to your 2010 Highlander you will need a 4-way, 7-way upgrade kit, and the brake controller itself. I recommend the following:
-T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118449 (If you do not have the factory tow package)
-Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # 56042 (If you have factory tow package)
-Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7
-Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR
-Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob # 331-TPSI-002 (Optional)
You will start by adding one of the 4-way wiring harnesses and then upgrade it to a 7-way with the # ETBC7 which comes with everything else you need. The Tow-Pro Liberty is an incredibly reliable and easy to use brake controller with a small footprint. The main unit installs behind the dash so only the knob is visible. The mounting panel will replace one of your knockout panels giving the brake controller installation an OEM look.
I have attached some installation videos below for your reference.
