Are these racks compatible with the older version of the Thule square bar? no t-slot

Yes, the Rhino-Rack Ski and Fishing Rod Carrier # RR572 will fit the older Thule square crossbars. While this kit does come with T-Slot hardware, it also has the clamps which is what you'll use for the square crossbars.
