Question:

Is there a soft start you can install for this unit? Or does it already have one? The QandA section seems to contradict itself. One answer says it has one already the other says it doesn’t. I have 2200w Honda generator which should be able to run this if it is only drawing 11 AMPS. But if it draw 29 AMPS at start up then I need a soft start. Can you recommend one if it is required?

The Furrion Chill HE RV AC unit part # FR25PR does currently have a start capacitor built into it but it does briefly draw up to 29 amps upon start up. The confusion is most likely related to fact that older version of the Chill did not have a capacitor. That said you can use a Softstart part # SSR54FR with it. I attached a diagram from Softstart that shows how it wires to a Furrion.

I have the Furrion Chill® HE RV Roof Air Conditioner - 13.5K BTU. In your last response you noted that it already comes with a soft start built-in, but draws 29 amps upon start-up. Does the soft start (part# SSR54FR) you recommend above reduce the amp draw at start-up? If so, what does it reduce it to? I have a 2200 watt Honda generator and am wondering if this would reduce the draw enough to run the AC on that generator.
