Is Blinking Light on Trailer Breakaway Kit When Connected to Tow Vehicle a Problem
Published 12/04/2023 >
Question:
I just installed a hopkins breakaway switch on my 1995 Jayco designer series 5th wheel trailer. The switch works like its supposed to and engages the brakes when disconnected from the truck. When I connect the plug to the truck the trailer brakes work when I press the brake pedal like they a supposed to. Even though everything is working correctly the LED light on the hopkins breakaway switch flashes red when the trailer plug is connected to my truck. Since everything is working as intended does this blinking red light matter?

I wouldn't worry about the blinking red light. It's probably an indicator that is showing that the battery is being charged. We get this question every now and again and there is no problem.
