How Does Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater Know When to Heat the Water

Question:
I’m looking into replacing my RV’s 6 gallon water heater with a tankless. I’ll be installing it myself. Currently there is a switch that initiates 12volt signal to the water heater to turn on and a t-stat to regulate the propane gas valve/burner. What initiates the gas valve on a tankless unit? Water flow switch?

Yes, the Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater # LSB64FR only heats the water when the water is turned on.
