Why Does The Valterra HydroFlush Need To Be Installed On The Top Of The Black Tank

Question:

It was stated this should be installed on the top of the tank? Is that a typical option for these? Seems like the only access one would have would be at the side of the tank. Is that not recommended?

The Valterra HydroFlush RV Black Tank Flush System # VAL42RB is recommended to be installed on the top of the tank so it's out of the way of everything and isn't a point that solids could get caught on or in the event that the backflow valve failed it'd be less likely to drain the tank. If you don't have access above the tank and don't want to install an access panel in the floor of the motorhome then you can try installing it higher up on the side of the tank to hopefully prevent either of these scenarios from happening.
