Howdy, the 17 1/2 inch is a bit long. Am I able to cut the stem?

Since the wiring for the light runs down the stem you're not going to be able to cut the Gustafson 12V RV LED Pendant Light.
Instead, you'd need to use a shorter stemmed pendant light like the Gustafson 12V RV LED Pendant Light w/ Light Shade # GUS62VR which measures 11" long, or # 277-000456 which is 15 1/2" long.
