Do the Furrion Chill RV Air Conditioners Have a Soft Start Built In

Question:

I noticed your response to a soft start question you stated that if we supplied the model number you could tell is it has a soft start built in. I just purchase a new Grand design AIN with this AC unit. It is overloading my Champion 3500Watt generator most of the time when it starts up. Thank you in advance for your help. Furrion FACT11CA-PS

The FACT11CA-PS number you provided is the Air Distribution Box for Furrion Chill RV Air Conditioners # FR28PR, the Furrion Chill a/c's do have the start capacitor (works like a soft start).

Since it sounds like the a/c does not always overload your generator, it could be the combination of the a/c and whatever else may be drawing power. I would recommend powering down other items until after the a/c start up. Then once the a/c is running, you can start powering those other items back on. Even with the start capacitor, the a/c will still have a higher start up draw than running.
