Is It Normal For A Hughes Autoformers Voltage Booster To Increase The Voltage To 126-129 Volts

Question:

We have the Hughes #4800, we have owned it for several years and have not used it. The parks weve been in have been consistently been 119-120. Now our inside meter has been bouncing between 114-115, so we hooked up the Hughes. Now our inside meter is running consistently at 126-129. Is this to high? Is it faulty? is this possible to be damaging our equipment like air conditioners and electronics in the trailer? Thank you

I spoke with Hughes Autoformers and they believe in your situation that there's an issue with the circuit board or the relays of your voltage booster # HU57FR and would like for you to reach out to them so that they can take a look at how it's wired and either walk you through rewiring it or replacing it.

Their tech stated that you should really only see a 3 volt difference when plugging in the booster and that seeing 10+ voltage increase putting you in the higher range of what's safe would definitely indicate an issue. I would remove the booster until it's fixed as going over 125 volts can damage sensitive electronics.
