What Color Wires Are Needed For The Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock On A 2012 Toyota Tacoma 4-Door

Question:

2012 toyota tacoma SR5 Four-door What wires do I tap into on the wire loom beneath the step plate? There are no wires matching the ones in the instructions. I uave a blue with white strip, several plain blue, and a thick Grey, and a thin Grey, in addition to others. Thank you

The instructions for the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock with Handle # PAL8540 list the correct wire colors for your 2012 Toyota Tacoma 4 door as blue with a black stripe and the blue with light red stripe wire. If you aren't finding them under the step plate then I would first check the kick panels (the cover next to your ankles in the foot well) to see if the manufacturer ran them differently.

If you still can't find them then you'll have to test the wires to determine which color they used. You'd essentially have to take door apart to get to the lock and trace it to the wire harness running out to the tail gate light if you can't find the correct colors. I would take a second look at the bundle you have and try pulling apart more of the trim to see if they just ran it a different route for whatever reason.
