Does 2014 Ford F-150 Tailgate Need to be Open or Closed When Closing the Leer Hard Tonneau Cover

Question:
Do I need to have the tailgate open or shut when I completely close this tonneau cover? I just want to make sure I'm not damaging the seal at the back here. Thank you!

The Leer Hard Tonneau Cover # LE34FR for your 2014 Ford F-150 6-1/2' bed can be shut whether the tailgate is opened or closed so you're good to go either way!
