Can You Use a Breakaway Battery to Power an Electric Trailer Tongue Jack
Published 12/01/2022 >
Question:
I am adding a Polestar 5000# electric jack to a 31foot Legend enclosed snowmobile trailer ~2800lb dry. If I install this, will the 5AH battery be enough to raise and lower a few times between charges, or should go to the #3802311 with the 10AH battery?

I do have an option for you but I don't recommend using a breakaway battery for a power tongue jack. That's not what they are designed for and would not allow the jack to operate or for very long. That said, there are many variables to this so I can't say for sure. There are however some battery run time calculators online you can use to get a better idea of your battery needs if you can determine your amp draw. I recommend the Bright Way Deep Cycle RV or Marine Battery part # BRW34FR to power an electric trailer tongue jack.
